Fast, steady running all the way to a podium finish Justin put together an excellent Half Marathon in 1:07:18, averaging 5:08 per mile and finishing 2nd overall out of 3,607 runners. What stands out most is how controlled the effort was early: through 5 miles he stayed right around pace with 5:04, 5:03, 4:52, 5:04, and 5:02, reaching 10K in 30:29 and moving up to 2nd by mile 3. He handled the lower SR-18 course well and kept himself in the fight all the way into town. Even with a slower 34:00 second half after a 33:18 first half, he never let things get away, and his quarter splits stayed close at 16:23, 16:56, 16:46, and 17:15. A 5:07 at mile 11 and a quick final 0.1 in 30 seconds showed he still had good strength late.
