Date: Oct. 3, 2026 Participant: Mike Nelson #8007 Race: 2026 St. George Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles

Fast second half, age-group win, and a polished run into town Mike put together a really sharp Half Marathon, finishing in 1:18:21 at 5:58 per mile and winning the M45-49 division. The best part was how well he managed the whole effort: after a 39:37 first half, he came back in 38:44 for a 53-second negative split. That kind of control showed up early too, with 5:49 and 5:48 in miles 2 and 3. What stands out most is how strong he was late. After the middle miles drifted to 6:31 at mile 6 and 7:29 at mile 7, he got right back on rhythm and used the descent into town well, running 5:51 at mile 11 and 5:49 at mile 12. His quarters were impressively steady as well19:20, 20:18, 19:24, and 19:21which tells the story of a composed race and very tired legs that still had plenty to give.
