Fast from the gun, steady all the way down Jess put together a sharp Half Marathon in 1:19:05, averaging 6:02 per mile and finishing 5th woman. What stands out most is how well she established her day early: 5:56 for mile 1, then 5:43 and 5:45 in miles 2 and 3, moving up to 15th overall and 3rd among women by mile 3. Through 6.55 miles she was still right on it in 38:59, a 5:57 pace. She kept that effort impressively controlled over the second half, closing in 40:07 at 6:07 pace and holding her position near the front all morning. Miles 10 and 11 were especially solid at 6:06 and 6:03, and she stayed composed through the final stretch with a 36-second last 0.1 to finish strong downtown. This was a really polished run, backed by consistent quarter splits of 19:02, 19:58, 19:42, and 20:25.
