Fast second half, strong finish into town David put together an excellent Half Marathon, covering 13.1 miles in 1:11:52 at 5:29 per mile. What stands out most is how well he closed: after a 36:44 first half, he came back in 35:09 for a clear negative split, dropping his pace from 5:36 to 5:22 per mile. That kind of second-half strength is exactly what you like to see on the run into St. George. He stayed remarkably steady early, with only one mile over 5:40 through the first 7, then really sharpened the race from mile 8 on. His 5:08 eighth mile was the quickest full mile of the day, and he kept pressing with 5:25, 5:26, and 5:20 over miles 10, 11, and 13. Even the last 0.1 came in at 0:24 pace. He finished 8th overall and 2nd in the M 20-24 division.
