Steady early, sharp finish in a strong 5K Daniel put together a really tidy St. George 5K, finishing in 22:29 at 7:15 per mile. What stands out most is how controlled the race was: 7:23 for mile 1, 7:23 again for mile 2, then a quicker 7:12 in mile 3. That kind of patience early and strength late is exactly what you like to see on this flat Friday evening run through town. He was still 27th overall through 2 miles, then moved up to 23rd by the finish, while also improving from 10th to 9th in the mens 20-29 division. The last push was especially strong, covering the final 0.1 in 33 seconds, a 5:33 pace. Holding such even splits and then closing with purpose made this a smooth, well-run race from start to finish.
