Date: Oct. 2, 2026 Participant: David Gibbons #6859 Race: 2026 St. George 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Steady from the gun, sharp to the finish David put together a really polished 5K in St. George, finishing in 22:48 at 7:21 per mile. The best part was how controlled it looked on paper: 7:24 for mile 1, 7:24 again for mile 2, then a slightly quicker 7:22 for mile 3. That kind of rhythm wins races within a race, and it carried him to 1st in the M 5059 division. He was still finding more over the final stretch, covering the last 0.1 in 39 seconds, a 6:36 pace, to seal 25th overall out of 1,002 runners. He also moved up late, improving from 29th overall through 2 miles to 25th by the finish. On a flat in-town 5K, thats a strong, well-judged effort all the way through.
