Date: Oct. 2, 2026 Participant: Calvin Whaley #6979 Race: 2026 St. George 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Fast start, steady finish, and a division win Calvin put together a sharp 5K in 19:28, averaging 6:17 per mile and finishing 5th overall out of 1,002 runners. What stands out most is how controlled the opening was: 6:07 for mile 1 and another 6:07 for mile 2, holding the same position throughout and leading the mens 2029 division from the start to the finish. The third mile slowed to 6:43, but he kept it together well and still found a strong closing gear, covering the final 0.1 in 34 seconds, a 5:42 pace. That late push says plenty. In a Friday evening 5K, winning his division and staying near the very front all the way through made for a really solid run at Worthen Park.
