Date: Oct. 2, 2026 Participant: Hyrum Sly #7112 Race: 2026 St. George 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Steady start, sharp finish in a strong 5K Hyrum put together a really solid 5K at St. George, finishing in 22:00 at a 7:06 pace. What stands out right away is how controlled the race was early: 7:15 for mile 1, then 7:15 again for mile 2. That kind of even pacing gave him something to build on. And he did. Mile 3 was his quickest full mile at 6:54, and he closed the final 0.1 at a 6:26 pace to seal it. He moved up from 23rd overall through two miles to 16th by the finish, and from 7th to 5th in the mens 2029 division. Thats the look of a runner who stayed patient, then finished with purpose when it mattered most.
