Date: Oct. 2, 2026 Participant: Pierce Slater #7708 Race: 2026 St. George 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Fast, steady 5K with a sharp finishing kick Pierce put together a strong 5K at Worthen Park, finishing in 20:48 at 6:42 per mile. What stands out right away is how steady he was early: 6:40 for mile 1, then right back with another 6:40 for mile 2. That kind of control set him up well, and it kept him firmly near the front of the race. He worked through a 6:58 third mile, then found another gear late, covering the final 0.1 in 32 seconds, a 5:24 pace, to finish 8th overall out of 1002 runners. He also placed 2nd in the boys 1519 division, which says plenty about the quality of the run. This was a mature effort: even pacing, good composure, and a really decisive close.
