Consistent Performance with Strategic Pacing The race began with a steady start, with the initial mile logged at a 9:00 min/mile pace. As Scott progressed, there was an impressive speed increase in the third mile, where the split pace was reduced to 8:27 min/mile, helping him to consistently hold or improve his place in the field. Throughout miles 4 to 9, Scott maintained a commendable pace ranging from 9:07 to 9:34 min/mile, ensuring his stability in the race. The last few miles showed consistent pacing with a slight deceleration, finishing the half marathon at a 9:11 min/mile overall pace. Despite some variability in placement and split times, Scott achieved a 10th place finish in his gender category in the 2026 Surf City Half Marathon Wheelchair event. Focusing on maintaining speed consistency in the latter stages could enhance future performance, offering potential for even greater placings.
