Date: Feb. 1, 2026 Participant: Delanie Morales #21288 Race: 2026 Surf City Marathon Distance: 26.2 miles

Consistent Start, Strategic Finish Delanie Morales showcased a strong performance at the 2026 Surf City Marathon, completing the 26.2 miles with an overall time of 3:37:35. Averaging an 8:18 min/mile pace, she displayed consistency in her splits with early miles mostly ranging between 7:41 and 7:55 per mile. Notably, she achieved her best division placement early on, ranking 4th in the F30-34 category by mile 1. By mile 3, she impressively moved up to 1st in her division. As the marathon progressed, Delanie maintained a steady pace but noted a gradual slow down, particularly after mile 17 where her pace increased to over 8 minutes per mile. Finishing in the top 20% of her division in a field of 2,517 runners is commendable. For future races, focusing on sustaining mid-race pace might enhance her results, especially to counter the pacing changes observed in the latter segments of the marathon.
