Consistent Mid-Race Performance, Opportunity for Improved Finish The race began with strong pacing as Shawn covered the first mile in 7:34, maintaining solid positioning with an early top 10 overall. Mid-race, there was impressive stability in pacing, evidenced by maintaining nearly consistent splits around the 8-minute mark, with positions ranging mostly between 7th and 8th for the majority of the race. Importantly, the split at mile 5 showcased a burst of speed with a 7:12 minute pace, regaining momentum. In the latter stages, the pace slowed, particularly evident from mile 21 onwards, with the split reaching 10:40 by mile 21. The overall Elapsed Time for the marathon was 3:54:33 with an average pace of 8:57 min/mile. Finishing 10th overall and 9th in his gender category within a field of 2,593 participants is commendable. Focus on maintaining that early consistent pace towards the end could enhance performance significantly.
