Strong Initial Performance Followed by Slower Splits Jessica Zhang showed a good start at the 2026 Surf City Marathon, completing the first half with a consistent pace. She clocked in her fastest split at mile 5 with a pace of 7:35 min/mile. By mile 10, she maintained a sub-8 min/mile pace, which highlights her strong endurance in the early to mid-stages of the race. At mile 3, she achieved her highest overall placement, ranking 177, demonstrating her competitive edge early on. In the latter half, the times started to lengthen, with her pace reaching over 9 min/mile by mile 17. The pace at mile 25 slowed to 11:09 min/mile. Despite these slowed paces, Zhang finished in a respectable 8th place in her division (F40-44). Consider focusing on maintaining those earlier-paced splits in future races to achieve even better overall time. Her final time was 3:46:11, placing her 403rd overall out of 2,517 participants.
