Consistent Pace with a Strong Start Michael Knox delivered an impressive performance at the 2026 Surf City Marathon, clocking in at 2:54:49. Notably, Michael maintained a solid average pace of 6:40 per mile over the 26.2-mile course. His race opened with a swift initial mile of 6:46, followed by consistent pacing around 6:30 per mile for the next several miles, solidifying his strong start. Between miles 2 and 9, Michael improved his overall position significantly, advancing from 40th to as high as 14th place. After mile 9, there was a slight decrease in pace. Splits dipped to approximately 6:50 to 7:00 minutes per mile from mile 18 onwards. These changes dropped his overall position to around 24th place by the finish. Encouragingly, his average pace remained under 7:00 minutes per mile throughout. For upcoming races, exploring strategies to maintain that early momentum and avoid late fade could enhance performance further. Overall, a commendable race effort showcasing endurance and consistency.
