Consistent Pacing and Strong Finish Megan Matalamaki showcased remarkable consistency at the 2026 Surf City Marathon. Throughout the race, Megan demonstrated commendable pacing, starting with a steady 8:36 min/mile for the first mile and progressively increasing her pace, concluding with an impressive 7:18 min/mile for the final mile. Notably, her overall placement improved significantly as she progressed, finishing 172nd overall and 25th in her gender. Megan's performance in the F25-29 age division was strong, securing 7th place by race end. Her ability to ramp up her speed in the latter half, specifically from mile 22 onward, reflects strategic energy management. Continual focus on finishing strong contributed to her impressive 48th place among female participants, out of 2517 competitors overall.
