Consistent Start, Endurance Waned Tess Borg delivered an overall strong performance at the 2026 Surf City Marathon. Early splits showed impressive consistency, hovering around 8:03 min/mile through the first three miles. Her strongest mile was the third, clocking in at 7:58 min/mile pace, placing her well in the female division. Maintaining close to her initial pace until mile 10, she sustained a steady effort as she completed 26.2 miles, finishing with an overall time of 3:54:21. In the latter half of the marathon, there was a gradual increase in mile splits, with the final miles logged above 9 min/mile. Particularly, mile 16 through mile 26 saw a reduction in speed with a peak at 9:55 and 10:10 min/mile on mile 16 and 24, respectively. Focusing on sustained pace in the latter portions of the race could lead to improved endurance and overall performance in future events. Keep building on this solid foundation.
