Consistent Performance with a Strong Division Win Connor Matthews delivered a strong performance at the 2026 Surf City Marathon, achieving the fastest division finish in the M25-29 category. Maintaining a steady pace throughout, he completed the race in 2:45:13 with an overall pace of 6:18 min/mile. Notably, he achieved a swift 5:59 min/mile during mile 2 and maintained a leading position in his age group in various splits, despite some fluctuations in placement. His most impressive moment came during mile 9, where he topped the overall standings momentarily. Connor's tenacity was evident as he remained competitive in the top 10 overall. A suggestion would be to address the pace drop observed in the final miles, particularly mile 25.
