Steady Start, Slower Finish at Surf City Jordyn Leighton from San Clemente, CA, completed the 2026 Surf City Half Marathon in 1:41:37 with an overall pace of 7:45 min/mile. She had a promising start, maintaining an impressive pace of 7:04 min/mile in the first mile and consistently running around a 7:15 pace through the early part of the race. Her strongest position was at the 5-mile mark, where she stood 250th overall, 31st among females, and 14th in her F25-29 division. The latter stages saw a decrease in pace, notably with splits of 8:15 and 9:06 in the final two miles. Despite these slower splits, Jordyn managed a respectable overall finish, placing 672nd out of 12,408 participants and 117th among women. For future races, maintaining the early race rhythm could be beneficial to avoid the late-race slowdown and improve overall time.
