Consistent Performance with Strong Placements Holly Slough exhibited remarkable pacing in the 2026 Surf City Marathon Wheelchair event, maintaining a steady pace throughout the race. Starting strong, she led the female category from the beginning, clocking a swift 7:37 min/mile for the first mile, and consistently placing first in gender and division through the first 16 miles. Her pace slowed slightly in the later stages, particularly with a noticeable drop during mile 21, clocking 10:41 min/mile the most significant dip of the race. Though the final splits indicated fatigue with increasing times per mile, Holly's ability to maintain a second-place finish in gender and division across the final miles demonstrates her endurance and competitiveness. With an overall time of 3:54:34 and an average pace of 8:57 min/mile, Holly effectively secured a commendable position out of the total participants. As a coach, I'd encourage focusing on sustaining energy in the later miles to maintain her strong start through the entire race next time.
