Date: Feb. 1, 2026 Participant: Evelyn Quintero #8207 Race: 2026 Surf City Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles

Consistent Pace with Strong Finish Evelyn Quintero maintained a steady pace throughout the 2026 Surf City Half Marathon, averaging a solid 7:27 min/mile over 13.1 miles. Beginning with a conservative 8:00 min/mile, Evelyn gradually improved with each mile, notably increasing her speed with several sub-7:00 minute miles towards the end. Her fastest segment was the final split at 6:46 min/mile, demonstrating an impressive push to the finish line. Evelyn secured a notable improvement in her race position, moving up from 957th overall at the first mile to finishing 463rd overall, 69th in her gender, and 14th in her division (F30-34) out of a total of 12,408 participants. This persistence in negative splitting after initial miles indicated a well-managed race strategy. For future races, focusing on implementing this balanced approach earlier might allow for even more competitive improvements in division standings.
