Consistent Splits, Strong Finish Ashley Watson displayed impressive consistency throughout the 2026 Surf City Half Marathon. Her overall time was 1:34:11, with an average pace of 7:11 min/mile. Notably, she secured the 4th place finish in the F20-24 division. Ashley's performance in the final three miles showed a remarkable acceleration, with split times of 6:51, 6:45, and an outstanding final mile at 6:28. Analyzing her splits, Ashley started strong with a 6:55 min/mile first mile but experienced a slight slowdown during the middle miles, maintaining splits mostly within the 7:18 to 7:40 min/mile range. However, she demonstrated strong perseverance by picking up the pace in the last quarter. For future races, maintaining her early race pace while gradually increasing speed over the later miles could optimize her performance and potentially lower her overall time. Consider focusing on speedwork to maintain a steady pace.
