Consistent Start with Room for Stronger Finish Ricky Juarez Jr. completed the 2026 Surf City Marathon with a total time of 3:20:26, averaging a steady pace of 7:39 min/mile. Notably, his early race pacing showed strong performance, with the first mile completed in 6:51, maintaining paces mostly under 7:00 min/mile for the first 11 miles. This consistent pacing during the initial segments positioned him well in his age group, hitting as high as 4th place by mile 9. As the race progressed, there was a slowing trend, especially evident after the 17th mile, where split paces began climbing above 8:00 min/mile. The final 6 miles showed opportunities for enhancement in pacing, particularly the last mile with a split time of 9:59. Despite this, Ricky showed resilience, finishing 17th in his division among 2517 total participants. Working on pacing strategies for the latter part of the race could lead to more competitive finishes in similar future events.
