Date: Feb. 1, 2026 Participant: Casey Chung #22595 Race: 2026 Surf City Marathon Distance: 26.2 miles

Consistent Pacing and Strong Finish Casey Chung showcased a steady performance at the 2026 Surf City Marathon. Throughout the race, Casey maintained a consistent pace, averaging 6:33 min/mile for much of the distance before experiencing a slight deceleration in the latter miles. Notable endurance in the early and middle stages allowed Casey to place 26th overall at the 26th mile, demonstrating good pacing strategy. Impressively, Casey made a resurgence to finish the final mile in 7:43, recovering from the slowdown seen in miles 18 through 25. An area of potential improvement could be the consistency in the final miles, as splits showed a drop from mid-race averages. With a final time of 3:01:17 and a solid performance within the M30-34 division, there's a strong foundation to build on. Casey's efforts placed him 12th in his age group, reflecting competitive speed in a large field of 2517 participants. Continued focus on even pacing could enhance overall performance.
