Consistent Performance with Strategic Finish Joel Alamo maintained a steady pace through the initial stages of the 2026 Surf City Half Marathon, with each of the first two miles nearly identical at 8:37 and 8:39 minutes per mile. A strong third mile at 8:11 min/mile demonstrated his ability to gain momentum, advancing his position significantly in the rankings. Notably, by the fifth mile, Joel had achieved his best position in the race, securing a spot as high as sixth overall. Despite fluctuations in pacing, Joel achieved a strong finish with an overall time of 1:57:48 for the 13.1-mile course, averaging an 8:59 min/mile pace. He concluded the race in a commendable 10th overall and 8th in his gender category out of 12,366 total participants. Maintaining form in his pacing could be an area to explore, particularly managing the slower miles like mile 13, which recorded a 9:58 pace. Great effort overall!
