Consistent Performance Leads to Strong Division Finish Laura McDonald showcased a solid performance in the 2026 Surf City Half Marathon, completing the race in 1:31:35 with an impressive average pace of 6:59 min/mile. Starting strong, her first mile clocked in at 6:43, and she maintained a pace under 7:00 min/mile through the first 11 miles. Notably, Laura excelled in her division, keeping a second-place position for most of the race before finishing third in the F40-44 category. Such consistency is promising and suggests her training is effective. Throughout the 13.1 miles, Laura's placement showed competitiveness, especially in the gender field where she was consistently among the top 35. The first half of the race displayed stronger pacing, and while there was a slight deceleration in the latter portion, the overall performance remained commendable. For future races, working on maintaining pace in the later miles might push her placement and time even higher. Well done on a commendable effort, Laura!
