Consistent Start With Opportunities for Strategic Pacing Zoey Fuentes completed the 2026 Surf City 5K with an official time of 27:41, averaging an 8:56 min/mile pace. Her initial mile set a strong but maintainable pace at 8:15 min/mile. At the 1-mile mark, her standings were 295th overall, 60th among females, and 7th in her division (F20-24). Between miles two and three, her pace slowed. The second mile at 8:40 min/mile and third at 10:11 min/mile could suggest challenges in pace sustainability. Despite this, Zoey held commendable placements such as 421st overall and 107th among females by the 2-mile mark. Ultimately, in her division, she finished 15th out of a total of 5023 participants. Improving endurance towards the end stages could preserve placement benefits gained early. Overall consistency in advancing pace across longer distances could be beneficial for future races.
