Consistent Performance with Strong Finishing Splits Josh Macias demonstrated impressive consistency and pacing in the 2026 Surf City Half Marathon. Starting with a steady pace, his first mile split was 6:50, progressively improving over the distance with the fastest split recorded at mile 12, clocking in at 5:40. His overall pace was 6:18 min/mile, resulting in a finish time of 1:22:38. Notably, his pace improved consistently, particularly from mile 5 onwards, showing a strong finish in the second half of the race. Through strategic pacing, Macias improved his overall standing significantly, moving from 237th place at the first mile to 80th overall by the finish. Within his division and gender, he climbed from 41st to 23rd and from 201st to 71st, respectively. For future races, maintaining this impressive second-half pace from the start could lead to even stronger overall results and possibly closer to the top of his division. Great job!
