Consistent Effort with a Strong Start Miriam Gamboa demonstrated a consistent performance in the 2026 Surf City Half Marathon. Starting strong, Olga maintained a steady pace, completing her initial mile at 9:16. Impressively, she remained within the top 11 gender-specific competitors consistently, finishing her first half in just under 1 hour and 2 minutes. Her strongest segment was between miles 1 and 2, where she improved her position by two places overall and secured 9th place among females. The latter half of the race saw a gradual pace decrease, reaching 10:20 min/mile, yet Miriam maintained more consistent pacing with split times ranging from 9:53 to 12:17. Despite a noticeable slowdown in the final miles, she finished with an overall elapsed time of 2:15:34, placing 20th overall and 9th among females. Miriam's experience suggests a focus on maintaining pace in the latter stages could benefit future performances.
