Impressive Performance at Surf City Half Marathon Ruby Carter, an 18-year-old from Redding, CA, delivered a noteworthy race at the 2026 Surf City Half Marathon Wheelchair event. She maintained a consistent early pace with an initial split of 7:57 min/mile and held strong placing 3rd in her gender division for the first three miles. Ruby hit a split peak pace within these miles, showcasing strength early in the race, and she improved her position to 2nd in her division by mile 4. Unfortunately, there was some decline in pace during the latter half, recording a slowest split pace at 11:24 min/mile at mile 8, which led to an overall race pace of 9:29 min/mile. However, Ruby finished strong, with her final mile matching her overall pace and an impressive 6th place finish overall again in that last stretch. Her overall finish time was 2:04:20, placing her 7th in her gender, amidst a competitive field of 12,366 participants. Focusing on consistent pacing could further enhance performance.
