Steady Start, Challenging Finish Samantha Meagher completed the 2026 Surf City Half Marathon with an overall time of 2:06:20, achieving an average pace of 9:38 minutes per mile. She placed 8th in her gender category and 18th overall out of a field of 26 participants. Samantha had a strong start with her best pace being 8:22 minutes per mile during the third mile, which was also her fastest split at 8:22. However, from mile 4, there was a gradual decline in her pace. The most significant slow-down occurred between miles 9 and 10, where the pace dropped to 11:34 minutes per mile. Despite this, she managed to slightly improve her placement in the later stages, climbing from 16th to 13th by mile 8 before finishing at 18th overall. A focus on maintaining consistent pacing throughout the race would help in sustaining speed beyond the initial miles.
