Consistently Improved Pacing Leads to Strong Finish Cheyenne Ludvik from Huntington Beach, CA, participated in the 2026 Surf City 5K. Starting with a 9:33 min/mile pace in the first mile, she finished in a notable overall position. Her split times show consistent improvement, with her second mile clocking in at a 9:07 min/mile pace and her third mile improving further to an 8:45 min/mile pace. Her progressive pace adjustment highlights a strong strategic approach, allowing her to move up significantly in both overall and gender placements during the race. Overall, Cheyenne completed the 5K with a time of 28:03, achieving an average pace of 9:03 min/mile. She placed 556th out of 5023 participants, ranking 163rd among females, and 23rd in the F35-39 division. A suggestion for future races would be to maintain or increase this steady pace improvement to climb rankings even further. Nice work on those mid-race gains!
