Consistent Start with Room for Steady Growth Chandler Van Kouwenberg finished the 2026 Surf City 5K with a total time of 22:50, maintaining an overall pace of 7:22 min/mile. His performance stood him at 117th place overall out of 5,020 participants. This indicates a strong showing considering the large field. Starting with an impressive 6:51 min/mile in the first mile, Chandler placed 94th overall, highlighting his capability for a fast start. Though his pace decreased over the remaining distance, he finished 99th among males and 16th in his age division. From the first to the third mile, there was a progression in split paces from a 7:33 to a 7:47 min/mile. While the gradual pace reduction is noticeable, focusing on maintaining a consistent pace throughout the race could help in achieving a more uniform performance. There's evident potential to stay strong across all splits with slight improvement in pacing strategies.
