Strong Middle Mile Boosts Performance in 5K Rafael exhibited notable performance in the 2026 Surf City 5K, especially with a strong showing in the middle mile. His overall time was 19:33, maintaining a steady rhythm throughout the race with an average pace of 6:18 min/mile. Notably, his second mile was the fastest at 6:02 min/mile pace, which helped him advance his position significantly, moving from 41st to 31st place overall. Rafael's placement in the Mens 25-29 division was commendable, achieving 6th place. While the third mile slightly slowed to a 6:41 min/mile pace, Rafael still managed to secure a top spot, ranking 2nd in his division for this mile. The variance in mile paces suggests a potential area for exploration in maintaining consistent speed across all segments. This performance, however, shows Rafael's capability to push forward under competitive conditions against a large participant pool of 5020 competitors. Great work, Rafael, on a strong finish!
