Strong Start with Tactical Pacing John Graham Jacobsen maintained a commendable pace in the first half of his half marathon, completing the initial 5 miles with an average pace of 8:27 min/mile. Particularly impressive was his 5th mile, where he clocked his fastest split time of 8:11. Between miles 1 and 8, he consistently stayed within an 8:11 to 8:38 min/mile range, showcasing a disciplined approach to pacing. The latter portion of the race saw a gradual increase in pacing, with John finishing mile 13 with a split time of 9:44. As a result, his overall pace settled at 9:15 min/mile. Despite this increase, he achieved a respectable 10th place in the M15-19 division. Continuing to work on maintaining a consistent pace in the latter miles could further enhance his performance. John's effort and tactics highlight a solid foundation to build upon for future races.
