Consistent Pacing and Strong Finish in Marathon Performance Michael Sheppard completed the 2026 M&T Bank Vermont City Marathon with an overall time of 3:29:40, maintaining a solid average pace of 8:00 minutes per mile. Impressively, he maintained consistent pacing throughout much of the race. Between miles 3 and 5, he hit a steady 8:00 min/mile split, demonstrating remarkable endurance. Notably, Michael improved his pace in the latter half of the marathon, achieving a swift 7:37 minute pace at mile 13. This mid-race acceleration is commendable. Towards the final miles, a slight dip in speed occurred, with pace slowing to 8:31 minutes per mile at mile 25. However, this effort placed Michael 33rd in the M40-44 division and 346th overall out of 1834 participants, indicating a competitive performance. Consider focusing on maintaining the improved pace from earlier in the race towards the end to potentially shave off additional time in future marathons.
