Consistent Effort with Strong Early Splits Mike McCarthy from Saint Albans, VT, ran a marathon with an overall time of 3:41:27, averaging an 8:27 pace per mile. Noteworthy is the consistent pacing early on, with the first half of the race exhibiting a steady improvement in pace, particularly from mile 1 at 8:41 to mile 5 at 7:49 pace. Mike maintained a fairly steady pace in the top half of the field, positioning as high as 256th overall by mile 16. Although the pace slightly decreased from mile 20 onward, with the final miles averaging around 9:00-9:21 per mile, Mike's early control and pacing consistency were strengths. Peak placement in the Male 40-44 division was 26th at mile 16. Focusing on sustaining earlier pacing strategies in the latter stages of the race might help maintain or improve race positions in future competitions.
