Steady Start, Slowed Finish Andrew Gustafson completed the 2026 M&T Bank Vermont City Marathon with an elapsed time of 4:58:45, achieving a pace of 11:24 min/mile. During the race, Andrew began with promising split times, maintaining nearly consistent pacing through the first half. Notable splits include a 9:48 min/mile at the 5-mile mark and a strong finish at mile 9 with a 9:40 min/mile split pace. As the race progressed, there was a noticeable deceleration. Splits during the latter stages indicate a trend towards slower paces, with the 21st mile at a 13:48 min/mile split pace. Despite the decrease in speed toward the end, he still secured 751st in the male gender category out of 1834 total participants. A consistent approach to maintaining early splits through the remainder of the course could potentially benefit future performances. Great job on pushing through to the finish!
