Consistent Start, Slower Finish Rafael Cabrera displayed strong initial pacing in the 2026 M&T Bank Vermont City Marathon, maintaining sub-10-minute miles for the first 6 miles, peaking with an 8:55-minute mile at mile 5. His early splits were consistent, showing potential for competitive placement, moving up in his division to as high as 68th by the 6th mile. In the latter half of the race, Rafael's pace gradually slowed, notably accumulating significant time in miles 20 through 26. His split pace rose to 15:18 minutes per mile at mile 21, which seemed to affect his overall placement. Despite the slower finish, he completed the marathon with a total time of 4:58:54, finishing 752nd among males and 105th in the M35-39 division out of 1834 total participants.
