Strong Start, Steady Finish Julian Franz delivered a commendable performance at the 2026 M&T Bank Vermont City Marathon. With a final time of 3:54:56, Julian maintained a pace of 8:58 min/mile over the 26.2-mile course. Notably, his early splits were strong, with the first mile clocked at 8:04 and an accelerated pace of 7:44 by mile eight. Julian reached his fastest pace of 7:20 at mile nine, showcasing his ability to maintain a competitive stride during the early portions of the marathon. Towards the latter stages of the race, Julian experienced a gradual deceleration, evident from his splits with peak times of 11:21 and 12:37 from miles 20 to 25, respectively. Despite the slowdown, resilience was showcased with consistent pacing in the final miles. An area to explore in future improvements could be enhancing late-race endurance to sustain those impressive early paces.
