Steady Progress with Late Deceleration Nate Dudek from East Hampton, CT participated in the 2026 M&T Bank Vermont City Marathon with an official time of 5:01:17. His overall elapsed pace was 11:29 min/mile across the 26.2-mile course. Nate displayed a consistent performance in the early and mid-course miles, notably accelerating and maintaining a pace below 10:00 min/mile between miles 3 and 6. A notable improvement in positioning was observed during mile 16, where Nate placed 57th in his division, compared with his final position of 89th. The initial half of the race saw consistent split paces in the 10:00 to 10:21 min/mile range. However, in the later stages, his pace decelerated to between 13:00 and 14:47 min/mile. This late deceleration suggests focusing on endurance for the later portion of marathons could be beneficial. Nate finished 758th among male competitors out of 1834 total participants.
