Steady Effort with Consistent Splits Casey Gomo completed the 2026 M&T Bank Vermont City Marathon in 5:39:57, maintaining an average pace of 12:58 minutes per mile. He consistently kept his splits within a tight range, with most miles between 11 and 14 minutes, demonstrating a steady effort throughout the race. The first half showed a notable consistency with mile paces generally around the 11-minute mark until mile 5. Mile 3 stood out with more extended split time, indicating a slight slow down, which was recovered in the subsequent miles. In the latter part of the race, specifically after mile 16, Casey experienced some challenging splits dropping to the 14-15 minute range, particularly at mile 24 with a split pace of 23:07, the slowest of his race. Despite this, he improved his position in his age group from mile 16 to 26 and maintained a strong finish. Fine-tuning pacing strategies, especially in the later stages, could potentially enhance Caseys future performances.
