Consistent Mud to Strong Finish The race began with a 11:20 min/mile pace for the first mile, which steadily improved to an average of 10:55 min/mile. Notably, Matthew showcased a strong finish, clocking the fastest split of 10:31 min/mile in mile 17. He maintained an average pace just below 11 min/mile. While his overall placement shifted throughout the race, reaching a peak at mile 16 (place 812 overall), he ended in 1126 out of 1834 participants. Placement among the M35-39 age division fluctuated, peaking at 60th position during mile 16. However, it is commendable how the pace remained consistent, dropping slightly to a split pace of 12:20 during mile 11 before recovering. Continuous pacing efforts are evident throughout the race, especially in the final segments where splits improved slightly. Focusing on maintaining the pace observed in the fastest splits could lead to better overall performance in future races.
