Notably, his split at mile 9 was the fastest at 10:51, evidencing strong pacing capabilities within that section. His swift place improvements, moving up in ranks from miles 1 to 3 especially, indicates a strong start. During the latter stages, Joe faced an increase in elapsed pace, particularly in the final third of the marathon where splits extended beyond 12 minutes per mile, with mile 24 being the slowest at 17:21.
