Impressive Split Variability with Strategic Speed Increases Shannon Franks showed remarkable pacing variations throughout the race, finishing with an impressive time of 1:16:27 for a 13.1-mile distance, averaging a pace of 5:50 min/mile. Interestingly, Shannon's pace displayed significant variability, peaking with a remarkable 4:50 min/mile at mile five, the fastest segment of his race. Mile three also stood out with a strong 5:07 min/mile, demonstrating excellent speed capability. Despite a temporary slowdown at mile seven with a split of 9:57 min/mile, Shannon adeptly regained speed, bringing the pace back to sub-6-minute miles for the remainder of the event. Consistent positioning as the fourth male participant throughout most of the splits highlights the competitive nature of his performance. For future races, focusing on maintaining consistency and minimizing slow segments can capitalize on his evident speed capabilities.
