Record-Breaking Performance in Marathon Wheelchair Race Erik's performance was outstanding, maintaining first place throughout the entire 13.1 miles at the 2026 M&T Bank Vermont City Marathon Wheelchair event. His overall time was an impressive 54:55, with an average pace of 4:11 min/mile. Notably, Erik achieved his fastest split during the 12th mile, clocking in at a remarkable 3:12 min/mile. Through consistent pacing, Erik demonstrated tactical prowess and endurance. Throughout the race, he consistently held first place across all categories, finishing as the top overall participant, leading the male division, and dominating in his age group for the male division. Key areas observed include maintaining a sub-4:30 pace across the entire course, particularly excelling in the first and last few miles with splits of 4:47, 4:19, and 4:11 min/mile respectively. For future races, ensuring consistent sub-4:00 min/mile pacing in the middle segments could further enhance performance.
