Consistent Early Pace, Challenges in Later Miles Brian Keaney, a 47-year-old marathon runner from Norton, delivered a steady performance in the early stages of the 2026 M&T Bank Vermont City Marathon. Through the first 10 miles, Brian maintained a consistent pace, with his splits hovering around 11:20 to 11:27 min/mile, placing him well within the top 50 in his M45-49 age division at several points. His best overall placement was 865 after 16 miles, reflecting strategic pacing through the race's midpoint. Increased fatigue set in during the latter stages, with splits slowing after mile 20. The final miles demonstrated a significant time increase per mile, with splits as high as 15:32 min/mile at mile 23. Completing the marathon in 5:20:26, Brian finished 1324th overall and 62nd in his age division out of 1834 participants.
