Consistent Performance With Fluctuations Steven Benway displayed impressive commitment throughout the 2026 M&T Bank Vermont City Marathon with an overall time of 5:11:19, averaging an 11:52 min/mile pace. Notably, he secured 6th place in the M70-74 division, a testament to his steady pace over the marathon distance. During the early stages, Steven improved his pace from 11:10 min/mile to 10:51 min/mile by the 2-mile mark, gaining places rapidly from 1130th to 661st overall in that segment. Steven saw variability in his pacing, particularly in the latter halves, with fluctuation in split paces ranging from a faster 10:57 min/mile at mile 13 to a slower 13:06 min/mile at mile 25. Despite these changes, he maintained a steady position within the top 780 male participants for most of the race. He might consider looking into what factors contributed to the pace decreases after the mid-point of the race for future improvement.
