Strong Mid-Race Performance Continues Before Facing Later Challenges Alex displayed a commendable performance in the initial stages of the 2026 M&T Bank Vermont City Marathon. Starting with a 10:08 min/mile pace for the first mile, Alex quickly improved to a 9:30 min/mile by the third mile, showing steady growth in speed and consistency. By the 7th mile, Alex hit a swift 8:19 min/mile, maintaining a steady sub-9:30 pace through mile 14. This portion of the race highlighted strong pacing strategy, evident by climbs in position, peaking at 611th overall at mile 13. From mile 20 onwards, Alex faced a slowdown, finishing with an average pace of 11:34 min/mile. The split from mile 21 marked a significant drop with a 21:33 min/mile. It may be beneficial to focus on sustainability through the later stages in future races.
