Consistent Start with Late Slowdown Lance Reynolds demonstrated an initial strong performance in the 2026 M&T Bank Vermont City Marathon, consistently maintaining a pace around 8:15-8:20 min/mile between miles 2 and 18. Notably, his fastest split was at mile 9, clocking in at an impressive 8:02 min/mile. Throughout, he displayed resilience and held a consistent rank within his division M25-29, fluctuating slightly in the mid-80s, with a notable improvement to 71st place at mile 13. However, in the later miles, specifically after the 20-mile mark, there was a noticeable change. The pace slowed to over 10-minute miles by mile 24, culminating in an overall time of 3:48:13 and a final pace of 8:42 min/mile. Despite this slowdown, ending in 542nd place out of 1834 total participants shows strong perseverance. For future races, focusing on endurance strategies in the latter portions could enhance performance and maintain pace consistency.
