Consistency and Strong Finish Devann Murphy showcased a remarkable performance at the 2026 M&T Bank Vermont City Marathon Wheelchair event. With consistent pacing, she navigated the 13.1-mile course in 1:05:16, maintaining an average pace of 4:59 min/mile. Devann held the leading position in her division and gender throughout, reflecting her strong competitive edge. Her initial mile split was 5:38 min/mile, progressively accelerating to 5:26, 5:19, and an impressive 5:15 in the first four miles. In the latter part of the race, Devann exhibited a significant surge. Her fifth and sixth-mile splits were 4:17 and 4:07 min/mile, respectively, showcasing her ability to maintain a faster pace over distance. Despite a slight slower split at mile seven of 7:34 min/mile, she quickly regained momentum, closing the race with a strong finish of 3:56 min/mile for the final mile. Continual attention to maintaining momentum in longer stretches could further enhance performance.
